RBS Coutts hires ‘more than 20’ in Singapore

The international private banking arm of RBS says it has hired more than 20 staff, including private bankers and support staff, in Singapore. It follows the resignations of more than 70 people from its business in the city-state.

RBS Coutts has hired more than 20 private bankers and support staff in Singapore over the past few weeks, asiamoney.com can confirm.

The international private banking arm of the Royal Bank of Scotland said not all of the new hires had started and declined to reveal names. It is understood most are support staff.

An RBS Coutts spokesman said that no team heads had been hired in this latest round and that most of these hires were direct replacements for the people who had left, although not all of them had started yet.

RBS Coutts suffered more than 70 departures in Singapore after the resignation of then-regional chief executive Hanspeter Brunner in August. It represented about 28% of office employees and included some 20 private bankers and 50 support staff (see story).
