Senior China banker in split with Sarasin-Rabo

Stella Kong has parted company with Sarasin-Rabo in acrimonious circumstances, asiamoney.com has learned. She had spent almost two years as its vice-chairwoman, Greater China, and is now rumoured to be joining Standard Chartered.

China private banking specialist Stella Kong has parted company with Sarasin-Rabo Investment Management in acrimonious circumstances, asiamoney.com has learned. She is rumoured to be heading to Standard Chartered.

Kong, an Australian citizen who was born in Hong Kong, joined Sarasin-Rabo in April 2008 as vice-chairwoman of Greater China on a two-year contract.

She spent the previous decade with ABN Amro, most recently as head of private banking China. She started at ABN in 1999 as private banking head for North Asia and was instrumental in building a business there.
