HSBC targets growth in Asia asset management

The bank has hired Julie Koo as regional head of institutional sales as part of an expansion drive. It is seeking to build its team of 15 to 20 to capture institutional business, particularly in Japan and Taiwan.

HSBC Global Asset Management said today (February 4) it had hired Julie Koo as Asia-Pacific head of institutional sales in a newly formed role as part of a regional expansion.

Koo, who starts in Hong Kong after Chinese New Year on February 18, will lead a sales team of 15 to 20 people to grow regional business with investors such as sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pension funds and corporates.
