Julius Baer names south-east Asia head

The firm has appointed David Lim as private banking head for south-east Asia. He succeeds Wilfred Kofmehl, who steps down to focus on key client relationships. Asiamoney.com interviews regional CEO Thomas Meier on the move and the bank's growth plans.

Bank Julius Baer has promoted David Lim to private banking head for south-east Asia, based in Singapore.

Lim was the firm’s deputy chief executive of Singapore and head of investment finance, having joined the bank at the start of its Asian build-out in 2006.

He succeeds Wilfred Kofmehl, who has stepped down to focus on key client relationships, the bank said in a statement.

In an interview, Thomas Meier, Julius Baer’s chief executive for Asia and the Middle East, told asiamoney.com: “David has been with us since the beginning in Asia. He was one of the pioneers, so to speak, back in 2006 when we started to build the business [in Asia] and assemble the team we need.”
