HSBC’s O’Malley aims to catch up in natural resources

The bank has just brought a team of five from Deutsche Bank to bolster its resources and energy group in Asia-Pacific. Its new regional head, Peter O’Malley, is set on growing the business and concedes there is room for improvement.

HSBC is striving to grow its share of fee revenue from the resources and energy sectors in Asia-Pacific after conceding it is “not where it wants to be” at present.
