HKEx consults market on renminbi futures

The operator of Hong Kong's stock and derivatives exchanges is consulting the market over the introduction of renminbi futures. The tools would greatly help companies hedge currency risk, and help spur more liquidity in the offshore market for the currency.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx) is making progress in its aim to become the first offshore jurisdiction to provide yuan renminbi futures contracts, confirming to asiamoney.com that it is conducting a soft consultation in the market.
