Stock picking vital for retail companies, says CLSA's Wei

China's discretionary goods sector is generally improving but outperforming the market requires bottom-up research and effective stock picking, says Xiaopo Wei, the region's top consumer discretionary analyst.

“This year stock picking has been tougher because it’s been very bottom-up,” confessed Xiaopo Wei to asiamoney.com. “2009 was more of a top down view, when if you liked China then your calls were right.”
