The quality of a country’s institutions is the most important factor in attracting foreign investment. However Asian domestic bond markets have been growing disproportionately to institutional development.
Institutional variables such as investor rights protection and a developed legal system have no impact on the speed at which Asian bond markets have been developing, despite the fact that they are the most important consideration for foreign investors.
